Sophie, on the other hand, was a tad emotional all 3 days the movers were here. She did not like their presence! She started crying when the movers walked in the door. She started crying when they started packing. And she really started crying when she saw her bed being packed for storage. I showed her that she still had a mattress and suggested a nap. She liked that idea and went straight to sleep.
If I were to pack my house, I would more than likely start in an organized fashion but would eventually become an unorganized mess. The movers stayed organized the entire time. Each one started in a room and didn't move to the next room until the first was finished. The breakfast room was full of boxes in a matter of hours. The kids' rooms were next and then the dining room. By 5:00 Tuesday, boxes were stacked high throughout the entire house and garage.
The grand finale came on Day 3 when all those boxes and wrapped pieces of furniture made their way into the container. I thought, "Wow. That's a lot of space." Well...Andy, Boston, Olivia, Sophia, and I managed to fill it up top to bottom and front to back. (I list all our names because it isn't all my stuff!)
Seeing the house empty was slightly odd but I didn't get emotional. I only get sad when I think of Boston and Olivia's baby room. I remember when Andy painted it 3 times until the right shade of green was on the walls. I remember him picking up the furniture, putting both cribs together, putting the pink chair that I had to have in just the right spot, and then suprising me when I got home. I remember him bringing the dresser drawers downstairs since I was on bedrest and couldn't walk upstairs just so I could put away all the sweet newborn clothes and socks that I had received for my sweet babies. Those memories make leaving our house a little difficult, but we are headed to a new home where we can making many more special memories.
WOW that IS a big space to fill up! That's impressive. :) Very sweet memories from that house.
ReplyDeleteIt is surprising how much "stuff" you accumulate and your house here is not that big. If you accumulate that much stuff over there, y'all will be broke trying to ship it all home! There are many, many sweet memories from that house. Y'all need to take a picture of the door frame in the kitchen where you have been measuring the kids.
